THE REUNION 2008

The reunion of 2008 was the last reunion of Larkfield'58 that would ever be held at the original 'Two Rivers' Hotel. A short while after the reunion the whole building was demolished. I have it on good authority that this had nothing to do with those who attended this reunion in any way shape or form!

The land on which the hotel had once stood remained a barren building site for quite a few years following the demolition and then, once all planning consents were ironed out, Marstons Brewery built a brand new 'Two Rivers' comprising two seperate buildings, one being the hotel block and the other the restuarant and bar. Unfortunately the new construction does not incorporate a function room so, sadly, apart from a casual get together we will no longer be able to hold a full blown function at this establishment. The one plus point of the 'new' Two Rivers is that, as a hotel, it is easily accessible and has good parking facilities should you ever wish  stopover in Chepstow!

Enough of the history of the Two Rivers Hotel, the reuion of 2008 took place in ............2008 and our guest of honour was Jeff Walker, art teacher extrodinaire, bridge player and chorister who finally stepped down from the Chepstow Male Voice Choir in 2014. Jeff kindly agreed to let some of the secrets out of the box, well the staff room to be more precise, and gave an excellent talk to the assembled throng. A vote of thanks was proposed by Bill Trite and, throughout the evening, Pete Phillips ensured that everyone spent their time full of merriment!
