I'm sure that no one likes to hear the news that an old acquaintence, friend, school chum has passed away. Sadly death is a fact of life and it's their life that we wish to remember through these pages.
We are only able to publish the information supplied and before publishing we will ask the family of the deceased for their permission to do so.
All entries, where relevent, use maiden names first.

ROGER WILLIAM HOPSON
4TH MAY 2015
Roger passed away on May 4th 2015 at Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny, following a fairly long period of illness. He had just attained the age of 68. A funeral service was held on Friday 15th May 2015 at St. Arvans Church prior to interment in the churchyard. Technically Roger would have been a member of the 'Year of '58' however Roger did not leave the Upper Sixth until 1966 and was well known for his nickname 'Yogi Bear' which of course he hated. Roger never married and he spent most of his retirement years actively involved in the St. Mary's Street antiques and bric-a-brac business, St. Mary's Collectibles. On the image to the left Roger is the first person on the left in the second row up.

HELEN BOREHAM
Daughter of Norman Boreham, Art Teacher at Caldicot College. Sadly Helen fought a losing battle with her health. She retired, due to her health problems, from her position as a Sister in the NHS .
Helen was a passionate gardener and a plant and garden history buff. Her husband Peter was an engineer. Their daughter Elinor became a forensic scientist for the United Nations and their son Will became a Materials Scientist. Following a high level of achievement at GCE 'O' Level Helen transferred to Larkfield from Caldicot College in 1963 to commence her 'A' Level studies.

DEREK JOHN HOWELLS
1946 - JULY 2006
Derek was a good friend and during the seventies and eighties we partied together quite often. I well remember, as if it was yesterday, those days on the rugby field representing both Larkfield and Chepstow RFC when we played together. I'm afraid I always knew him as Ginger, a name he really hated, however I found it hard to get out of the habit of calling by his Larkfield School nickname. Derek enjoyed playing golf during his downtime, from running the family grocery business with his father, and was a member of the notorious 'Bobcats' golfing fraternity at St. Pierre Golf and Country Club. The Bobcats gave Derek, who died following a massive heart attack on the golf course, a wonderful send off and his funeral was attended en-masse completely filling the Parish Church of St. Tewdric in Mathern. He was intered in the churchyard. Bob Avery

SUSAN WARREN
11TH JULY 2012
Rachel Hanlon [nee Warren] Sue's twin sister says -
"Sue's death was very sudden - so sudden that I wasn't able to see her before she died. She'd led a very busy life, working as a librarian in Shropshire, and then in Stonehouse and then at Stroud College. She had also been a Labour councillor in Stonehouse for many years - she was selected as Chairman of the Council on two occasions. Sue was held in very high regard by Stonehouse Council so much so that they planted an elm tree in her memory".
Sue was married to Paul for 43 years, and they had two children and four grandchildren".
Being twins Sue and Rachel were hardly ever photographed separately and in the image of both Sue and Rachel, to the left, Sue is on the left in her Larkfield School uniform.

VALERIE WATKINS

As many of you will know, Valerie was always very supportive of our reunions and always travelled down to join us whenever she could.
Valerie started at Larkfield at the beginning of the lower sixth form [in1963] when her family moved to Caldicot from Stockton.
Valerie became a qualified librarian and had worked in Newport, London and Warwickshire.
Valerie leaves Bob, her husband, and their son Alexander.
